Marc Lamontagne
Marc Lamontagne is a registered Professional Engineer in Ontario and Alberta, Canada.
• Bachelor of Engineering – Material Science: University of Western, London, Ontario Canada
• Master of Applied Science in metallurgical engineering – Queens University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada
• Ph.D. in metallurgical engineering – Queens University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada
Marc Lamontagne upon completion of his Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering at Queen’s University, Canada in 1997 began work with the pipeline integrity group within TransCanada Pipelines. In-Line Inspection (ILI) became his specialty. The following years included employment with a small engineering firm, then an ILI vendor and finally, self employed since 2006. Marc’s typical work includes ILI analysis, ILI review, Fitness for Service of threats identified with mechanical, magnetic, and ultrasonic ILI methods, Integrity Management Programs for growth and remediation requirements, independent 3rd party work, metallurgical, and fracture mechanics. Besides continued work with operators, Marc has since 2010 assisted on several post-failure inquiries with PHMSA as well as two Consent Decrees for the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Justice.
Marc Lamontagne has been the Principal Engineer at Lamontagne Pipeline Assessment Corporation for 19 years of his 28 years in Pipeline Integrity. During this time Marc has been primarily involved with various pipeline operators in the defect assessment, growth modelling, FFS and ever evolving integrity management of operational pipelines. Marc, for the last 15 years, has also assisted on several post-failure inquiries with PHMSA as well as two Consent Decrees for the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Justice. Marc has been involved with the CSA Z662, NACE 0204 SCCDA and B31.8 O&M committee to mention a few.
Marc Lamontagne is a recognized expert in:
• Fitness-for-service reporting of pipelines based on the analysis of corrosion and/or cracking through in-line inspection reporting,
• Interaction and assessment procedures, and modeling the growth of defects to create prudent integrity management programs.
